Passionate for foods, and with a keen interest in learning and exploring new recipes, I always book hotels that have a fine restaurant and serve quality food. When planning for a stay in Chennai, I searched the internet and found out that Hotel Bell Chennai could be the right choice, so I had the rooms booked for us long before we reached Chennai. Opting for budget travel, we took train to Chennai and reached Chennai Central Railway Station by 10 am in the morning. There was the cab sent from the hotel waiting for us and we got into the cab and reached the hotel within minutes.
The hotel is a part of the building called Bell Central, which was constructed in 1930. And it is located in the heart of the city. The welcome given to us at the hotel was warm and we were taken to the rooms allotted for us. I saw that the room was spacious, well-kept, air-conditioned and had all the facilities such as LCD TV, internet, safe, telephone, study table and a well-equipped bathroom with hot/cold running water. There was 24-hour room service and we ordered a cup of coffee as soon as we reached our rooms.
The multi-cuisine restaurant in the hotel called Madras Tramway has resemblance to the interior of a tram, which I found very interesting. The restaurant served a wide range of dishes of more than 50. It included Indian, Chinese and Continental delicacies. Some of the special dishes of the hotel were Ceylon Minced Parotta vegetarian, Ceylon Minced Parotta egg, Ceylon Minced Parotta chicken, Egg Dosa, Curry Dosa Chicken, and Curry Dosa Mutton. We had a taste of these special dishes during our stay at the hotel. On the last day of our stay at the hotel, I met the chief chef and introduced myself, and congratulated him for the dishes prepared.
The hotel was comfortable and the service provided was excellent. We got a lot of help from the travel desk in planning our tour of the city. Other facilities in the hotel were also excellent we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bell Chennai.
